Get to Know: Emma Corbin

United Way of Steele County would like to welcome Emma Corbin (intern) to the team. Her role is Volunteer Coordinator. We sat down with her to learn more about her as she starts her summer with United Way:

What was your path to United Way of Steele County?

My path to the United Way of Steele County began as a young child when my Mom, Julie Anderson, started working for Transitional Housing of Steele County. I would occasionally come to United Way events with her, and I met some of the awesome people working with the United Way. Then, over winter break of 2023, I did some temporary work at the UWSC office. I needed to find an internship for my Sociology program at Winona State University, and it was around the same time as my work over winter break that I decided I wanted to do my internship at UWSC. I am so glad that I was able to stay with United Way for my internship, as it has been a great experience thus far!

What excites you the most about your internship at United Way; and taking on the role as Volunteer Coordinator?

As the Volunteer Coordinator at UWSC, I am most excited about getting to work with the community on uplifting/supporting events, as well as working to create new ones. I especially enjoy helping out with events that take place outdoors and I am excited to participate in/coordinate new opportunities.
